There is no government authority in Singapore that assesses or grants recognition to degrees awarded by overseas universities for employment purposes. Each individual employer (in the private or public sector) decides on the criteria for recruitment based on its organisational strategies. This includes the type of qualification acceptable for employment in each organisation.
However we may refer to the general guideline set by the Public Service Division (PSD) which states that for graduate positions, they accept degrees from all universities accredited by the home government of the country where the university is located. This applies to degrees obtained full-time or part-time, through distance-learning or twinning programmes.

With regards to recruitment and advancement within an organisation, both public and private sector employers have their own hiring guidelines pertaining to an individual’s academic qualifications. It is important to note that besides the academic qualifications, other factors such as your aptitude, interest, past work experience and remuneration package expectations will also be considered by employers.

About Case Trust
The Student Protection Scheme (SPS) serves to protect the interest and welfare of all International students in Singapore. Established by the Consumers' Association of Singapore (CASE), SPS came into effect on 1 December 2004.
As part of the SPS, PSB Academy has put in place the Student Tuition Fee Insurance Scheme to ensure that tuition fees paid by students to the school are insured, in this case with NTUC Income Insurance Cooperative Limited. The purposes of the scheme are as follows:
- Protect the students' fees in the event that the school is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure.
- Protect the student if the school fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgements made against it by the Singapore courts.
- Protect the students in the event of death by accident or total permanent disability by accident.
For International students, the insurance premium, which varies according to programmes, is in addition to the Application & Visa Administration Fee payable to PSB Academy upon application. Please check with our country managers on the student tuition fee insurance premium.
For Local students who wish to enjoy similar protection, the choice to opt in for SPS lies at the time of accepting the programme offer.
Click here for the list of terms and conditions attached to Premium Refunds.
A personal Certificate of Student Insurance will be given to all students insured under this scheme. This certificate is important when making a claim on the policy. A copy of the policy document, the “Master Insurance Policy”, is also made available at here.
