Professor Richard A Williams OBE FREng FTSE is an engineer and entrepreneur who has worked internationally in academia in chemical and process engineering.

He is Pro-Vice Chancellor at University of Birmingham and Head of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He is also Vice Chancellor elect of Heriot-Watt University (UK, Dubai, Malaysia). He currently holds visiting professorships at Southeast University Nanjing (China), Taylors University (Malaysia) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing). He is also Vice President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, London.

He has broad experience in enterprise, innovation and leadership in educational systems. He specializes in radical environmental technologies, large scale energy storage and policy, the cold economy, and engineering of natural resources.
