Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Awarded by PSB Academy Mechanical engineering technologists provide technical support and services in mechanical engineering field such as the design, development, maintenance and testing of machines; components, tools, heating and ventilating systems; power generation and power conversion plants, manufacturing plants and equipment. They are employed by consulting and engineering firms, manufacturing and processing companies, educational institutions and many other sectors. If the idea of designing or modifying machines and systems in manufacturing and service industries appeals to you, then this course might just be for you. The main objective of this Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is to train working adults to be competent in their respective fields of engineering and to upgrade their knowledge and skills. Progression Pathway Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates can proceed on to a Bachelor of Engineering degree, awarded by The University of Newcastle, Australia. Advanced standing may be granted, subject to University’s entry requirements. Course Structure This programme consists of 16 modules, amounting to a total of 930 contact hours for both the part-time and full-time pathway. Course Outline
The delivery of modules may not follow the sequence as shown and is subject to change. Duration The programme is delivered over 32 months for the part-time pathway and 18 months for the full-time pathway. Assessment and Examination At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module. Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include assignments, tests, projects and final examinations. Entry Requirements The minimum entry requirements are: Local Student Admission
Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may advance to the diploma programme upon successful completion of the Preparatory Course for Engineering Diploma. The course consists of modules in Mathematics and Physics, and is conducted over a period of 4 months. A fee of S$802.50 (inclusive of 7% GST) will be applicable. International Students
^Skills Development Fund (SDF): The Skills Development Fund is a subsidy from the Workforce Development Agency (WDA). This is an employer based subsidy and applications for the training grant must be submitted through NTUC, CDAC, Mendaki, or your company.
To be eligible, you must be: 1. Gainfully employed AND 2. A Singaporean or PR
Grant amounts range from 50% to 95% depending on eligibility.
