PSB Diploma in Mechanical Engineering 

Awarded by PSB Academy

Mechanical engineering technologists provide technical support and services in mechanical engineering field such as the design, development, maintenance and testing of machines; components, tools, heating and ventilating systems; power generation and power conversion plants, manufacturing plants and equipment. They are employed by consulting and engineering firms, manufacturing and processing companies, educational institutions and many other sectors.

If the idea of designing or modifying machines and systems in manufacturing and service industries appeals to you, then this course might just be for you.

The main objective of this Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is to train working adults to be competent in their respective fields of engineering and to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Progression Pathway

Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates can proceed on to a Bachelor of Engineering degree, awarded by The University of Newcastle, Australia. Advanced standing  may be granted, subject to University’s entry requirements.

This programme consists of 16 modules, amounting to a total of 930 contact hours for the part-time pathway.

The delivery of modules may not follow the sequence as shown and is subject to change.

Duration

The programme is delivered over 32 months for the part-time pathway.

Assessment and Examination

At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module.  Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include assignments, tests, projects and final examinations.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements are:

Local Student Admission

  • 3 GCE 'O' Level passes or equivalent,  with at least  a Grade 7 in English
  • Higher NITEC or NITEC in Engineering-related disciplines

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may advance to the diploma programme upon successful completion of the Preparatory Course for Engineering Diploma. The course consists of  modules in Mathematics and Physics, and is conducted over a period of 4 months. A fee of S$770.40 (inclusive of 7% GST) will be applicable.
