Bachelor of Science (Psychology and Human Performance) Awarded by The University of Western Australia When giants like Manchester United, LA Lakers and Tiger Woods conquer their respective fields in the sporting world, they owe their success largely to their coach, manager and – their team psychologist. Psychologists essentially analyse the whys and hows of human behaviour and use this knowledge to help people manage and succeed in life – not just in the sports arena but in the business world as well. Bachelor of Science (Psychology and Human Performance) is a combined study of Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and Bachelor of Science (Sport Science). Psychology is the study of mental processes and human behaviour. Graduates with a four-unit (single) major in psychology such as that offered in the Psychology and Human Performance programme and the Sport Science programme may find careers in a variety of non-clinical areas such as:
Students completing a human movement major in the BSc (Psychology and Human Performance) are those with a general interest in exercise, health, sport, rehabilitation and human resource management. The course will provide you with vocational skills, communication skills, research skills and organisational skills. This degree is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council / Australian Psychological Society and is the entry requirement for the fourth year Bachelor of Psychology, and the BSc Honours in Psychology. For those with exemptions, this course may be completed within a shorter period. Assessment and Examination Students are given a unit outline at the commencement of each unit. The unit outline provides the assessment mode and weightings for the unit. Most units have several points of assessments, which may include laboratory assignments, projects, mid-term examinations and final examinations.
