Programme Structure
This programme is specially designed with the objective of giving students with GCE 'O' Levels or its equivalent a head start for the bachelor degree programme. Year 1 consists of bridging components to prepare students for the bachelor degree programme. Year 2 and 3 represent an accelerated programme which allows a typical 3-year programme to be completed in 2 years. Students may also enjoy the benefit of transferring or completing their studies on campus in Australia. Programme Outline

Honours Programme The Honours programme is available for students who have achieved excellent results in a relevant Bachelor's degree. The one year programme is designed to enable students to produce a thesis or creative project theoretically, methodically and technically sophisticated. It gives the student an opportunity to undertake in-depth research in communication and or media arts as a foundation for higher entry-level employment and further graduate studies.
Assessment and Examination Assessments may include assignments, tests, projects, and final examinations. Duration The programme can be completed in a minimum duration of 3 years. For students granted with exemptions, this programme may be completed a minimum duration of 2 years. Availability

An applicant for a place at the University of Newcastle who does not speak English as a first language must demonstrate that they meet the University's English proficiency requirement. Details of this policy can be found here. Applicants without the required average grades may also apply but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the University. Honours Degree Programme The minimum admission requirement for the Honours Degree Programme is a University of Newcastle Bachelor of Communication or an equivalent programme with a minimum GPA of 5.0 (credit grade average) calculated from the following:
In exceptional circumstances, the above requirements may be varied with permission of the Head of School and Pro Vice-Chancellor. No more than two years must have elapsed since completion of the Bachelor degree.
Applicants with Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas in related studies from polytechnics or other recognised institutions may be considered for advance standing into the Year 2 courses.
