The human resource is an indispensable input for any organisation. Hence, it is crucial that this important resource is well recruited, selected, managed, developed, trained and motivated. The Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management presents to students, important aspects of Human Resource Management, such as recruitment and selection, performance appraisal, organisation development, industrial relations, etc. In short, it is specially designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of specific areas in HRM and their applications.

Current and future issues which are relevant to the Singapore HRM context will also be covered in the course. This will familiarise students with the current trends in managing the HR function. Examples of current HRM issues, which will be addressed, are HR Information System, Alternative Work Arrangements and Flexible Wage and Benefits.

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of specific areas in HRM and their applications
• Familiarise themselves with the current and future HRM issues which are relevant in Singapore
• Develop the necessary functional HR skills for added HRM responsibilities and allow them to contribute towards the organisations' effective use of human resources

Duration

The programme is delivered over 18 months on a part-time basis.

Assessment and Examination

At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module. Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include assignments, tests,projects and final examinations

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements are:

• A Diploma from PSB Academy; or
• A Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution or professional body; or
• A minimum of 2 GCE ‘A’ Levels (with credit in General Paper) and 2 years of working experience; or
• A minimum of 5 GCE ‘O’ Levels including a pass in English and 6 years of managerial or senior supervisory experience

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may also apply, but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
