When Stephen Spielberg revived dinosaurs to walk alongside man and a slew of superheroes morphed, leapt and transformed in incredible ways on the silver screen, the technical wizards behind all these tapped into the world of digital media. Entertainment is being served up to us in previously unimaginable formats. Everything that can be done has been done; the only question is what next?

In this digital age, content is progressively delivered via the digitised platform to homes and offices, real-time or delayed. Businesses involved in digital distribution of media are leveraging on the various technologies such as broadband connections and the Internet, the televisions (digital, interactive, high-definition and internet protocol) to deliver entertainment in a variety of formats.

This new course is designed to provide broad-based learning on the digital media production industry. Essential information technology modules are taught to ensure students have a common knowledge of the digital tools that will be used to support their creative works. The curriculum of the program will provide the avenue for the students to progressively build their project portfolio.

Progression Pathway

Upon successful completion, graduates of this programme can advance on to Bachelor in Information Technology, awarded by The University of Newcastle, Australia (subject to University’s entry requirements).

Course Structure

This course consists of 10 modules with a total of 600 contact hours.

Duration

The course can be completed in a minimum period of 20 months.

Assessment and Examination

At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module. Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include laboratory assignments, tests, projects and final examinations.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements are:

* 5 credits in GCE ‘O’ levels including a pass in English; or
* NITEC (NTC2) or Higher NITEC (ITC) in any discipline; or
* Diploma in other discipline

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may also apply, but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
