Our 1st group of ‘Outstanding Student Leader’ award recipients
The ‘Awards & Appreciation’Ceremony held on 26 June 08 at PSB Academy was a very special occasion for many students. Apart from prizes handed out for their participation in various activities such as sports, student clubs and Student Council, the ceremony was also to recognise four students who were there to receive the ‘Outstanding Student Leader’ Award from Dr Steve Lai, CEO of PSB Academy. This special award is conferred on a select group of full-time degree students in their final year of study, in recognition of their active involvement and contribution to the student community. The four recipients are:
Felix Surya (BBus Yr 3, University of Newcastle)
Felix served in the 1st PSB Academy Student Council, and as a mentor to the 2nd Student Council. He is a very dependable and responsible student leader who has played a key role in organising various events and student activities within PSB Academy. With his willingness to go the extra mile, Felix took on leadership roles to organise numerous activities such as overnight camps and other activities to induct new students.
Ilung Pranata (BIT Yr 3, University of Newcastle)
Ilung served in the 1st PSB Academy Student Council, and as a mentor to the 2nd Student Council. He also coordinated and organised various activities under the Indonesian Students’ Association. As Chairman of the Overseas Students’ Association (OSA) Welfare Committee, Ilung led in organising large scale events for students. For his outstanding contribution to the international student community, he received the ‘Friend of International Students’ Award, conferred by the Singapore Tourism Board.
Natasha Andrea Vales Canlas (BBusYr 3, University of Newcastle)
Natasha served in the 1st PSB Academy Student Council, and as a mentor to the 2nd Student Council. With her passion in hip hop dance, she was one of the initiators of the Dance Club formed in 2007, and played a key role in instilling vibrancy on campus by leading and participating in dance performances within and outside campus. With her sociable and approachable personality, she is always willing to assist in organising student activities.
Siddharth Surender Choudhary (BBus Yr 3, University of Newcastle)
Siddharth served in the 1st PSB Academy Student Council in 2007. He initiated the formation of a cricket team on campus in 2007 and his passion and enthusiasm to promote cricket within the campus was evident, as within a short period of time, he was able to recruit a team of students to train regularly. As the manager and coach, Siddharth displayed leadership in leading the team to participate in competitions.
