Wuxi China, 26 November 2009 – On 25 November 2009, PSB Academy, one of Singapore’s largest corporate training provider, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Wuxi Municipal People’s Government Administrative Committee for Wuxi New District, for the development of Sino-Singapore Wuxi International Training Base. The signing of the MOU agreement was witnessed by Singapore’s Minister for Health, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Singapore’s Minister of State (MOS) for Trade & Industry and Manpower, Mr Lee Yi Shyan and Secretary of China Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, Liang Baohua. MOS Lee Yi Shyan and Jiangsu Party Secretary Liang Baohua also unveiled a plaque for the Base.

As a highlight of the 3rd Singapore-Jiangsu Cooperation Council (SJCC) meeting in Wuxi and Wuxi-Singapore Industrial Park 15th Anniversary celebration, the signing of the MOU agreement encompasses high expectations from both Singapore and China for the co-development of training services in China. It has been a challenging 2009 for the world. China’s economy has shown a strong ‘V’ shape recovery since the financial crisis started last year. With the Wuxi-Singapore Industrial Park stepping into its 15th year, representatives from Singapore and China have expressed strong confidence with the cooperation, and hoped that such relations can be expanded into other fields such as trade, environment, technology and the arts.

Discussion for the new Training Base has started in early November this year between PSB Academy and Wuxi New District Economic Development Corporation. Both parties have spoken about the plans to build a training base to support Wuxi’s service sector and advanced manufacturing sector which the local government has plans to expand. The training base will be developed with ambitions to provide corporate training for civil service workers and skills training for the people of the entire Jiangsu Province.
