On the 29th of March 2012, the Student Council team (SC11/12) had their first formal lunch with the CEO of PSB Academy, Dr. Steve Lai, accompanied by our wonderful staff members Yeo May Fung, Pai Teck Chin and Chen Yuan Juan. As the Student Council serves to create a bridge between the student body and the school to foster greater student involvement and welfare, the main aim of the lunch was to share our experiences and learning with Dr. Lai, based on the opinions/suggestions we got from our peers on making improvement to the school facilities provided. We, in turn, gained from his experience and learned how to improve and continue to initiate and organise activities for the benefits of the student community.

After introducing ourselves to Dr Lai, over very delicious Japanese food and soft drinks, we showed a PowerPoint Presentation compiled by our President, Pham Dieu Linh. The purpose was to provide Dr. Lai with a brief on what the SC 11/12 had done, focusing on the two events which we recently organised, namely, PSB Unite and the “Messed-Up” Party.

Dr. Lai asked each one of us to share our experiences, challenges faced in organising our two large-scale events, and how the 12 members from different parts of the world got together and evolved as a “TEAM”. He gave his insights and shared his personal life experiences and enlightened us about the concept of leadership and team building.

We were asked to bring out any suggestions/complaints/opinions that we heard from our peers so that the school authorities could take steps to look into the matter and give students a memorable learning experience at PSB Academy.

We concluded our meeting with a photo session and a big vote of thanks to Dr. Lai for taking his time to meet the Student Council team (SC 11/12) and providing us with valuable advice which I’m sure all of us will never forget. It motivated the team to continue to strive and serve the school in a better way and to attain greater success in the future!
