| | Counselling Service The Counselling Service is a place for you to discuss concerns that may be affecting your well-being or studies. It offers a range of services to help students There are many ups and downs in life. Many personal problems are discussed and solved with friends or family, programme executives and lecturers. However, there are times when it is right to find help away from the familiar environment, and the Counselling Service is here in times like these. All information discussed with the counsellors are kept within the limits of confidentiality, so you can be assured that your privacy is protected.
Types of Services Personal Counselling Counselling is a process of helping you explore and express your thoughts, feelings and behavior. By talking through your concerns, you may deepen your understanding of what is happening, feel a sense of relief and enable you to make positive changes in your life. It may also help you deal with life more effectively by viewing your difficulties from a different perspective. Disability Support Students who have been diagnosed with learning, physical, medical or psychiatric difficulties may wish to contact the counsellor as soon as possible. The counsellor will meet with you to inform about the types of support available and to discuss any adjustments that you may need during the course of your study here. Medical Support If students fall ill or are injured and require hospitalisation, Counsellors also provide support by conducting hospital visits, providing emotional support for students and family members and following-up with students upon returning to campus. Who are the counsellors? The Counselling Service has professionally trained counsellors who are accustomed to helping people from many different backgrounds and cultures and with a wide range of personal issues. How do I make an appointment to see a counsellor? To make an appointment, you must first complete an Intake-Form, available at Student Affairs Office (Block E-103) or click to download. Then, submit the Intake Form (via e-mail or hardcopy) to the Counsellor who will contact you to arrange a suitable time for an appointment. (Note: Appointment will be arranged after submission of Intake Form.) How long does each session last? Counselling lasts for approximately 50 minutes each session. Do I have to pay any fees?
