Professor Timothy Kilgour Roberts (Chairman)

Professor Roberts has recently retired as the inaugural Dean, University of Newcastle, Australia (Singapore campus) and also from the University of Newcastle. In line with his appointment as Conjoint Professor in Biology, he continues to be active in research in the laboratory of his long-time collaborator, Associate Professor Hugh Dunstan, at the University of Newcastle. He has published close to some 100 papers.

Originally from South Australia, he has travelled extensively since completing his B Sc at the University of Adelaide and his PhD at Flinders University and moving to Singapore in July 2006.

Professor Roberts is an acknowledged expert in the area of chronic pain and fatigue and autism.

Dr. Chong Chee Leong (Dean)

Dr. Chong Chee Leong holds the concurrent appointments of Deputy CEO and Academic Dean at PSB Academy. As the institution’s first academic dean, Chee Leong oversees three key departments: Academic Affairs, Academic Services and operations of PSB’s four Schools.

Chee Leong’s extensive academic career spans 25 years. Prior to his current appointment, he was the founding Dean of SIM University’s School of Science and Technology. He was also an Associate Professor at the NUS and Director of the NUS-SPRING Centre for Best Practices. There he spearheaded consultancy projects commissioned by various government bodies, including SPRING Singapore, Economic Development Board, Ministry of Manpower and the Workforce Development Authority.

In the wider region, he helped to set up a Best Practice and Benchmarking Centre for the Thailand Productivity Institute and was the Technical Expert in Best Practices and Productivity for the Asia Productivity Organisation, Japan.

Mr. Paul N. Ramachandran (Member)

Paul Chandran started his career in the Research Division of the Economic Development Board (EDB). During his tenure at the EDB he was involved in conducting economic research in support of the early industrialisation programme . Following that, Paul joined Lockheed Aircraft Service, an American aircraft corporation. When Lockheed completed their obligations in Singapore, Paul joined the management of one of the subsidiaries of the Singapore Technologies (Aerospace) Group .

Paul joined the National Productivity Board (NPB) in 1985 and stayed on into the formation of the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board (PSB) and until its corporatisation to form PSB Corporation. During his tenure at NPB and PSB he headed several administrative portfolios up to Principal Consultant at PSB Corporation .

Dr. Koh Hwee Ling Joyce (Member)

Dr. Koh has been an Assistant Professor in the Learning Sciences and Technologies Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (Singapore) since September 2008. She currently teaches preservice teacher education courses in information and communication technologies and graduate modules in the Masters of Arts (Instructional Design and Technology) program.

Prior to joining the National Institute of Education, she worked in instructional design and consulting positions for companies including Option Six Inc (USA), PSB Academy, and Singapore Computer Systems Pte Ltd.

Dr. Susie Khoo (Member)

Dr. Khoo started her teaching career in the public schools and made the switch to the private higher education sector in 1996, where she served for close to 15 years in various positions under teaching appointments as well as senior management appointments. Dr. Khoo’s interests are in Economics and Applied Research, where she taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the past.

Currently, in her role as Senior Vice President at PSB Academy, her focus is very much on teaching and learning quality, which encompasses policies and activities which define and promote academic standards to enhance the academic profile of PSB Academy. She also oversees the departments that provide student services to create and sustain an effective learning environment for the students.

Ms. Yam Tai Gnan, Michelle

Michelle is currently the Vice-President of PSB Academy. She held various portfolios such as pioneering International Business Centre and taking care of International Student services and Academic Services.

Michelle had over 20 years of solid experience in the education and training industry. She started her career in the National Productivity Board (now known as SPRING Singapore). Over these years, she was involved in corporate functions, training administration, student admission & recruitment, assessment & certification, curriculum development as well as teaching experience in supervisory and management subjects.

Mr. Phang Piao Chun

• Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical Engineering, (First Class Honours), Nanyang Technological University

Mr Phang has extensive engineering experience in the area of wireless communication, signal processing and embedded system design. He started his career as a defence R&D engineer with DSO National Laboratories. He later joined Oki Techno Centre to focus on IC design for wireless applications.

Prior to joining PSB academy, he held a lecturing position at Nanyang Polytechnic and had spearheaded several FPGA & IC Design capability development projects. He was also a key driver behind a number of sucessful industry projects with leading companies in Singapore . Currently at PSB Academy, Mr. Phang teaches Signal Processing, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering and Programmable Logic Design to undergraduate students.

Dr Sam is currently a Senior Lecturer at PSB Academy. At PSB, Dr Sam teaches Economics, Management and
Quantitative Skills. 

Ms Koh Wee Nee

Ms. Koh started her career in the banking and financial industry where she honed her skills for 4 years before joining the lecturing profession. She has taught a variety of subjects in Economics and other business modules ranging from diploma to undergraduate levels. Currently at PSB Academy, Ms. Koh teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Quantitative Skills, and Business Economics to undergraduate students.

Dr. Lucas S. Karatzas

• Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours, Reading University

Dr. Karatzas, a highly acclaimed researcher and academic, first began teaching Robotics and Automation at Singapore’s Temasek Polytechnic, before moving to PSB Academy to take up an adjunct position before accepting a full-time role as a Senior Lecturer with the School of Engineering. To date, he has contributed 43 publications to academia and has also presented academic papers at 12 international conferences. Having been a post doctoral fellow at the prestigious University of Bath and University of Reading in the United Kingdom, Lucas has developed a very strong background in research with led him to take up several senior positions in marketing and engineering with large MNCs across UK, Germany, Korea and Singapore. Dr. Karatzas also possesses a Teaching in Higher Education Certificate (THEC) alongside his other advanced qualifications from The University of Reading, UK.

Mr. Christopher Chiew Poh Hock

Mr Chiew brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over several industries. A former foreign exchange dealer with DBS Bank, his academic career took off when he first commenced academic duties with publicly listed company TMC Education Group. From designing and developing business courseware to conducting lectures and seminars, Christopher has been successfully discharging other duties such as staff recruitment and overseeing student affairs matters. With more than a decade of teaching experience under his belt, Mr Chiew has been an associate consultant with PSB Academy and was the acting Head of Discipline for Finance and Accounting, and recently took up the role of Senior Lecturer. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore and an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment.
