Community Involvement

Charity Partnership

PSB Academy partners the Singapore Children’s Society (SCS) in 2010.

It has pledged to contribute 50% of its application fees from its diploma and certificate programmes (local students) to the Children’s Society. Donation boxes have also been set up at PSB’s 2 campuses to encourage contribution to this worthy cause.

The institution will also be planning various activities with the Children’s Society. Some of these include, sponsoring children to a Singapore Arts Festival 2010 performance, a fund-raising bazaar, a Sports Day-out and Nature’s Day-out for the children.

Student Community Service Programme

With an aim to inculcate a more holistic, quality education; PSB Academy encourages its students, starting this year to contribute 30 hours of their time every year to community service work.

The students can choose to do this through participating in a series of community service activities which PSB Academy will be organising with the Singapore Children’s Society, or engaging in other meaningful community service activities outside campus. PSB Academy believes that through the various enriching experiences gained, and with the right guidance from the School, PSB students will better understand empathy and the importance of being socially responsible. They will be better equipped with not only academic skills but also the heart, to respond more readily to today’s challenging world.

Staff Involvement

PSB Academy aims to engage staff on a deeper level in its CSR efforts in 2010. A CSR committee with representatives from key departments was started early this year. The committee members will be responsible for organising fund-raising and volunteering activities and initiating participation from the various staff members.

Besides contributing to children and youth, PSB staff is also educated on awareness of the environment with the 3-R (Reduce, Re-use, Re-cycle) and Workplace safety policies in place. (For details, please see write-up under ‘Environment Intiatives’)

As a reinforcement of its commitment to CSR, staff will also be given one day-off to participate in the various community service works.

Supporter in the development of Youth & Sports

PSB Academy is pleased to be the official supporter of the inaugural Singapore’s 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). PSB Academy will be providing training and consulting services in Quality, Environmental Health and Safety (QEHS) to YOG. Eager and enthusiastic students have also volunteered for the YOG to provide help in different areas such as in the area of Food & Beverages and as well as being translators at the event.
