Funding Support for Quality Management and Productivity Improvement Training Courses

The Singapore Government has been actively rallying companies to boost productivity towards a Cheaper, Better and Faster economy. Specific vocational skills such as Six Sigma and related tools & techniques like Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) are important to help organisations drive towards operational excellence.

The Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) has initiated a new fund that provides funding support for Quality Management and Productivity Improvement Training Courses. This initiative is targeted at local PMETs (such as Managers, Engineers, Technical Specialists, Process Owners, QC/QA Personnel and Supervisors) across sectors.

Courses Eligible for the Funding

Funding Criteria

Course participants or its sponsoring employers must fulfill the following criteria (all inclusive):

  • Must be a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Gainfully employed (including those who are self-employed or employed personnel in full time positions)
  • Meet the minimum set of entry requirements for the selected course
  • Achieve at least 75% attendance and/ or sit for any prescribed examinations/ assessments or duly submitted any course/ project work required by the courses.
  • Do not receive other funding from any government sources related to course fees.

Funding Mechanism

  • For local worker sponsored by the employer    
    - e2i will support up to 50% of the course fee per eligible trainee, excluding GST and fees such  
      as enrolment or assessment.

     
  • For local employed workers who are gainfully employed but self-sponsored     
    - If the worker is a union member, he/ she will be eligible for UTAP (Union Training Assistance 
      Programme).
      > The funding quantum will be up to 50% of the course fee (excluding GST & fees such as 
         enrolment/ assessment, etc), subject to a maximum funding of $250 per member per year, 
         and minimum co-payment of $10 per course will be required.

Funding will be available till 30th June 2011.
