Quantitative Risk Assessment & Hazard and Operability Study

With the increased safety awareness and tighter regulatory requirement, QRA & HAZOP Study are now commonly used as a tool to demonstrate that the potential hazards of the process or installation can be identified and their associated risks sufficiently examined.

In short, QRA is a technique to evaluate risk associated with a particular “Hazardous Activity” that potentially have great impact on human, financial and its surrounding environment.

Being an NEA accredited service provider for QRA study, we had conducted numerous HAZOP and QRA studies both locally and regionally.

Quantitative Risk Assessment

Quantified Risk Assessment (QRA) is a technique measuring and ranking the various contributory risks associated with the operation of facilities, in particular those risks with the potential to cause fatalities. It is a follow-up from techniques such as HAZID and HAZOP, which identify the hazards associated with a facility and enables quantification of the consequences, escalation potential and risk.

The purpose of QRA is to analyse the likelihood and consequences of a credible Major Accident Events (MAE) associated with a facility and perform appropriate analyses to model the behaviour of accidents and how they develop to create risks.

Hazard and Operability Study

HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) is a formalised process for identifying and examining potential deviations from design intent/normal operations that could result in a hazardous unsafe situation or operability problem. The essence of the HAZOP Analysis approach is to review process drawings and/or procedures in a series of meetings, during which a multi-disciplinary team uses a prescribed protocol (a combination of deviation guide words and process parameters) to methodically.
