Sambal Stingray

Visit any hawker centre and you’ll find this spicy dish. Prepared by barbecuing the stingray and topped with sambal paste, this is definitely a local favourite!

Char Kway Teow

A simple yet irresistibly delicious dish, Char Kway Teow or Fried Kway Teow is another crowd pleaser. A plate of flat rice noodles and egg noodles stir-fried with eggs, cockles, Chinese sausages, bean sprouts and Chinese chives will have you coming back for more.

Popiah

Think burrito but healthier. The ‘wrap’ is a soft, thin paper-like ‘skin’ made from wheat flour, and it’s usually filled with finely grated and steamed turnip, bean sprouts, grated carrots, chopped peanuts and crispy bits.

Oyster Omelette a.k.a. Orh Luak

Don’t mistake this plate of eggy goodness for Chai Tow Kueh! Although both dishes consist of egg, this is cooked with potato starch and of course, small oysters. Elevate this dish with chilli sauce.
