With a Diploma in Biotechnology from my Polytechnic days, it was pretty straightforward that I wanted to pursue a similar major for my degree.

Initially, I had some doubts when my friend told me that I could graduate with a degree in just two years from PSB Academy (PSBA) and La Trobe University (LTU). Fortunately, my relevant diploma granted me module exemptions. Moreover, after doing some research on my own, I found out that LTU is ranked #56 in the 2016 Times Higher Education rankings and the degree attained also has a strong presence in Singapore

The part-time degree programme from LTU exposed me to real-world working experiences while advancing my academics without much compromise.

The curriculums were properly planned and organised, allowing me to plan my schedule ahead of time. When Covid happened, I quickly adapted to the school’s E-Learning system in no time as there was sufficient support provided and guidelines for the students to follow. The E-Learning system was very convenient for me as it helped me to keep track of all the upcoming assignments and quizzes.

I would like to especially mention and show my gratitude towards both Dr Lee and Dr Seah. They have been kind and empathetic, supporting and encouraging me whenever I faced problems, making my time in school easier.

From my personal experiences, I do not think that studying a private degree at a private institution has put me at a disadvantage as I was able to secure a job after my graduation with PSBA and LTU. In my opinion, I feel that we are no less than local university graduates after working with a few of them . Moreover, I had also gained some full-time working experience while studying part-time and it definitely has given me an advantage above others as compared to a full-time graduate with no prior work experience.
