James Teo
Class of 2022
Master of Business Administration,
For many, the need for work-life balance is paramount – especially so for young professionals.
For James Teo, on the other hand, he finds joy in the hustle-and-bustle where he can pursue his passions and puts his self-discipline to the test. The University of Nottingham’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) student is doing just that, as he juggles his time between family, work, and school commitments.
“I have a passion for education, and I strive to work on my personal development constantly. Not many will believe me when I say that I enjoy the learning process, especially since the University of Nottingham‘s MBA curriculum allows me to balance my time well. It is a win-win for me, as University of Nottingham boasts international accreditations and is a member of the AACSB Business Education Alliance,” said James.
While this is not James’ first rodeo at a Master’s programme, he shares that modules such as Business Economics, Finance, and Marketing Management helped him tremendously in his career.
James added, “The programme’s learning process developed my confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It also enhanced my communication skills through interactions with the lecturers and teammates during the group discussions. These are valuable skills to hone as they prepare me as a far-sighted business leader and strategic thinker in the corporate world. The University of Nottingham’s MBA programme has increased my understanding of financial planning and enhanced management strategies at my workplace at the corporate level too.”
There were times where he had to sit out at family gatherings and birthday celebrations. Still, he shared that having a supportive family is incredibly important as it keeps him feeling motivated. On top of that, James credits lecturers at University of Nottingham as his other source of motivation and inspiration.
“Several of my course mates enrolled at PSB Academy also share my thoughts and sentiments — most of us are on our way up the corporate ladders and we find that University of Nottingham’s MBA programme gives us a broader prospective and aids our progression,” shared James.
