Mervyn Lemuel Tan

Class of 2020
Master of Science in Engineering Business Management, Coventry University

School of Postgraduate Studies

Mervyn Lemuel Tan’s passion and specialty lie in designing and building projects.

“My work combines financial operations and engineering,” says Mervyn. He chose Coventry University’s Master of Science in Engineering Business Management offered by PSB Academy because it offered him the flexibility to continue working while studying and gave him a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of engineering management. He found the modules were well designed and arranged in a good sequence. Most importantly, class discussions form the highlight of his postgraduate experience – the insights he gained from lecturers and fellow peers value-added his life tremendously.

Reflecting on his academic journey, work-and-study is not the easiest arrangement. For Mervyn, a typical day would entail getting up before 7am, heading to work and staying focused the whole time. By 6pm, he would “transform” into a student and concentrate on the lectures before finally reaching home at 11pm.

“It was tough,” he cautioned, “but I have no regrets. Getting the MSc in Engineering Business Management was a meaningful and fulfilling journey for me.”

For Meryn, a master’s programme is part of his long-term development plan to acquire fundamental skills beyond his course of study. Coventry University’s engineering programme is specifically designed with student like Mervyn who wishes to pursue leadership roles in an engineering industry.
