Can you give us a brief introduction of yourself please?

I used to study in Jurong Junior College. My subject combination was a hybrid of Science and Arts.

How has life been since you started studying in PSB Academy?

Life has been really wonderful, with so many new friends that I have made so far. Since I served as the Vice-President of the South Asian Student Association (SASA) during my course, I had the opportunity to plan and organise events like Holi, Diwali and Welcome Freshers. Every event widens my horizon and social network.

What made you further your studies with PSB Academy (versus other institutions)?

PSB Academy offers a wide variety of courses, but the main incentive is that they offer the Bachelor of Communication course in a shorter time span, as compared to other institutions. Moreover, I really enjoy the international exposure through the course and the clubs. I got to interact with students of other nationalities and know about their cultures when I was planning events with other clubs.

What made you embark on your course? How did it help you to make a difference in your local community?

I have always liked connecting and forging bonds with new people, and the  communications field is based on that. Furthermore, I enjoy participating in debates. This course enables me to help community organisations with their publicity and PR-related matters, such as social media, media releases, and community-related communication issues.

In what ways has your education with us added value to your personal development and professional opportunities?

The educational experience is very hands-on, which enables me to put into practice the theory I learnt in class. For example, the module on Feature Writing requires me to find and interview interesting people. Moreover, the leadership role at SASA and the friends I made have taught me a lot about planning and time management.

How approachable and helpful were the lecturers/tutors?

The tutors have always been there for us when we need help, and even after the course is over, we try to stay in touch. The SASA members are a constant pillar of support for me. They have helped me overcome many challenges, such as when I was trying to get more people to sign up for events and when I was searching for suitable venues, caterers, decorations and so on.

Can you tell me a bit about your experiences with the faculty and classes? Do you have a favourite lecturer? Anything amusing or any experience that are particularly unforgettable? What’s your favourite part of the course?

I enjoyed the module on Developing Multimedia Publication taught by Mr Jason Koh. He is an amazing teacher, who gives us great advice, provides us with real world experience and helps us develop our character and pursue our passions.

I will never forget the Audience Studies module taught by Ms Angie. It gave me and my team the opportunity to visit a farm to interview the farm owner during Valentine’s Day in 2019. It was really a fun experience and exposure for us.

What was most memorable about your time at PSB Academy?

Every moment at PSB Academy has been memorable. I always enjoy coming to school and attending the classes because of my classmates who make every lesson a pleasant one. And after class, meeting up with the SASA members gives me great joy. I feel like I’m right where I belong, and I will really miss this journey once I graduate next year.

What do you plan to do after you graduate? Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I plan to intern in a few companies in the PR industry while travelling, so as to gain as much exposure as I can. In 5 years, I hope to see myself in a job where I will be happy in and get to travel around the world.

Any last remarks, words of inspiration or advice for those looking to take the same path as you?

Trust your heart and just do what you like. This is the time to explore your options and try to manage social life and academic life because in university, it’s very easy to lose yourself in the urge to become popular and have many friends. Just remember, this is probably the only stage in life where you get the time to do what you like and mould the person you are going to be down the road, so explore as much as you can and stay true to yourself.
