My journey in finance has been shaped not only by my professional experience but also by my commitment to continuous learning. I currently work as an account executive, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts and banks, maintaining ledgers and journals, and preparing and filing tax returns. While the work demands precision and analytical skills, it is the knowledge and confidence I’ve gained through my education that truly enables me to excel.

During my two-year battle with cancer, I faced challenges that tested both my resilience and my career aspirations. I am deeply grateful to my bosses and colleagues, whose support never wavered. Their encouragement, alongside the kindness of my team who stepped in to assist with my workload, gave me the space to focus on my health while staying committed to my professional growth.

It was during this period that I pursued a postgraduate degree with Coventry University at PSB Academy, and it proved transformative. Having completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and pursued ACCA qualifications, I wanted a programme that combined academic rigor with practical relevance. I discovered PSB Academy through my sister, and its flexible arrangements, supportive lecturers, and excellent learning environment made it the perfect choice.

The curriculum at Coventry University is highly engaging and practical. My favourite module, Corporate Social Responsibility, highlighted the importance of ethical business practices and their real-world implications. More than just theoretical knowledge, the programme strengthened my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through debates, presentations, and collaborative projects—skills that I had not fully developed in my independent accounting work.

Lecturers at PSB Academy were a constant source of inspiration. I vividly remember a quiz session with Mr Francis, where the interactive and fun approach not only clarified concepts but also sparked my interest in Marketing—a subject I had previously overlooked.

The combination of my education and life experiences has given me a professional edge. I am now more confident, analytical, and effective in collaborating with colleagues, and I can approach challenges with both knowledge and resilience. Studying at a private institution in Singapore has certainly not been a disadvantage; the qualifications are internationally recognised, closely aligned with industry needs, and have equipped me with the practical skills and networks that employers value.
