“Our Student Club is a great place and home for everyone.” – Nandhita

Briefly describe your Student Club.

Sports and Adventure Club (SAC) is open to anyone interested in sports, adventure and physical activities. We have more than 100 enthusiastic members in the club.

Share with us more about the events your club organised in your committee year.

In January 2020, SAC organised a Futsal session at Kovan Sports Centre. Our participants had a friendly match which was filled with fun and laughter. It was memorable as we had international exchange students with us and special bonds were forged through sports.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, SAC organised regular badminton sessions in the community hall or sports hall with more than 15 active enthusiasts. It is not just about badminton and exercising, it is also about connecting with your peers from other courses and clubs!

Are there any sports competitions that PSB Academy or your club organised or participated in?

Under the guidance of the staff mentors from Student Affairs and Industry Engagement, various student clubs collaborate to organise Tertiary Games every year. Student athletes from PSB Academy and participating institutes would compete in various events such as basketball, badminton and football. Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented global pandemic this year, we had to cancel the Tertiary Games. We would all be looking forward to next year’s Tertiary Games should the situation improve and allow for the event to be held.

Various Student Clubs came together for Tertiary Games 2019.

Tell us your favourite athlete, and why?

My favourite athlete is Bethany Hamilton, a pro surfer who had lost her left arm due to a shark attack at the age of thirteen. Even after such a traumatic experience, she did not lose hope, determination or felt discouraged over what she wanted to achieve. Instead, she picked up the board and went back to the sea to fulfil her dreams. She also started an organisation for shark attack survivors and amputees, a feat that is truly inspiring.

Share some words with current students who are still deciding if they should join your club.

We welcome everyone to join SAC. This is a great place and home for everyone as there are a lot of opportunities when it comes to exploring your options and being exposed to different sports and activities. We also value the opinions of each member because we are like a big family.
