Changing global conditions mean that the hotel industry is more challenging than ever. Shifting demographics and lifestyle trends have also changed the way in which people spend their recreation and leisure time. Evolving tourist needs and consumer demands has resulted in a need for more active and better management of hotel operations. As a people business, the quality of the industry is dependent on delivering amazing visitor experiences and exceptional guest satisfaction. 

The Diploma in Global Hospitality Management is designed to develop a strong fundamental understanding in the key areas of hospitality operations and management. Students will acquire a thorough appreciation of hospitality management within the accommodation industry, as well as gain operational and strategic management skills required for hotel management.

At the end of the programme, students will be able to: 

  • Acquire a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the hotel industry, its developments, career opportunities and challenges;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the operations in hotels, and other related service providers such as foodservice organisations and the Meeting, Expositions, Events and Conventions (MEEC) industry; 
  • Gain employable knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) of the different roles and significance of various internal and external stakeholders in the hotel industry through local or overseas Industrial Attachment and working with industry practitioners;
  • Develop professional customer service skills and basic hospitality lingua franca;
  • Foster the capability on how to perform revenue management for room sales and acquire hospitality supervision and training skills;
  • Prepare students for entry into their aspiring hospitality career paths.

Programme Structure

Programme Duration

This programme can be completed within 18 months, that is, 12 months of institutional training and 6 months of industrial attachment.

Programme Structure

This programme consists of 8 modules, amounting to a total of 320 contact hours, and industrial attachment. Students are required to complete all the 8 modules before proceeding with industrial attachment.

Assessment and Examination

At the commencement of each module, students will be provided with the assessment mode and weightings for the module. Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include assignments, tests, projects and final examinations.

Award of Qualification

To qualify for the award certificate, students must pass the internship and all prescribed modules in the programme.

*Guest lecturers from Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS) will be teaching this module.

Lectures, tutorials, project assignments will be conducted within PSB Academy's City Campus and allocated industrial attachment.  

Minimum Number of Students Before a Class Commences

Minimum 25 students are required before commencement of classes. 

Admission Criteria

Local Student Admission

The minimum entry requirements for Local Student Admission:

  • 2 GCE 'O' level passes or equivalent; OR
  • 3 GCE 'N' level passes or equivalent; OR
  • Candidates with other qualifications will be considered as case-by-case basis

Language Proficiency

  • GCE 'O' level English (grade 1 to 7) or equivalent;
  • GCE 'N' level English Pass or equivalent;
  • PSB Academy’s Certificate in English Proficiency programme
  • An equivalent English language qualification
