After completing my Higher Nitec in Business Services, I worked part-time while deciding on my next step. I had enrolled in a psychology programme at another private education institution, but soon realised it wasn't the right fit for me. Looking for a course that better matched my interests, I came across PSB Academy after a friend's recommendation. The school fees were also more affordable than my previous school, making it an easy choice.

I've always enjoyed planning events, creating travel itineraries and travelling, so I wanted to understand what goes into creating those experiences for others. When I explored PSB Academy's Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management, I found modules that genuinely interested me, especially Events Management. It felt like a natural fit for my interests and the direction I wanted to pursue.

One of the most memorable parts of my diploma was working through guest service case scenarios. They gave me a better understanding of what it's like to work in the hospitality and tourism industry. Instead of only learning from textbooks, I experienced situations that reflected what professionals may encounter in the workplace. Through these activities, as well as group projects and presentations, I also became more confident communicating and working with others.

Starting in a new environment also gave me the chance to meet new friends, and we supported one another throughout the course, which made my experience much more enjoyable. My lecturers also encouraged us to ask questions and were approachable whenever we needed guidance, which made classes feel more engaging.

Looking back, changing paths was one of the best decisions I made. It allowed me to study something I genuinely enjoy. One of the things I appreciated was that PSB Academy partners with universities, making it possible for students to progress after completing their diploma.

After finishing my diploma, I was able to progress directly into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. That made the transition much smoother and allowed me to work towards my degree in a shorter time.

If I could give one piece of advice to students deciding on their next step, it would be to take the time to understand what genuinely interests you. Don't be afraid to change direction if your first choice isn't the right fit. Choosing a course that matches your interests can make your learning experience much more meaningful and help you move forward with greater confidence.
