Could you share with us your current role as a Software Quality Assurance at Cermati.com? As a Software Quality Assurance at Cermati.com, I ensure safe software deployment by eliminating any critical bug before releasing it to the production environment. I am also involved in analysing, designing, and planning new features along with cross-team collaborators. On top of that, I am responsible for creating test plans and test cases. What drives you to pursue a career in Computer Software? As a child, I have always been curious with how computer programmes work. Throughout my childhood, I was exposed to rapidly developing technological advancements. With my parents' support, I finally decided to pursue a career in this field. What is one key accomplishment you have achieved in your job / what is fulfilling about doing your job? I have achieved many things throughout the years, but getting promoted as a full-time employee in a short period was one of my key accomplishments. The most fulfilling about doing my job will always be having the opportunity to grow as an individual and team player. I was always given a chance to learn new skills, such as automation testing. I think the key is to keep learning and be curious. Moreover, to improve, you have to be open to feedback given. What has been the biggest challenge in your career and how did you overcome it? The biggest challenge would be adjusting from being a fresh graduate without much workplace knowledge to an intern. I lacked confidence because I was unaware of what was expected at work. As time passed, I continued to learn and improve to make a positive impact on the company. What made you embark on a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science at PSB Academy? How did this programme help you to make a difference in your workplace and industry? After completing high school in Jakarta, I began researching colleges that offer computer science programmes. With many different choices of institutions, I found the programme offered by PSB Academy to be the most suitable for me. This programme had helped me understand the basics of computers and all the related software, which benefited me in my workplace. Every module served different purposes, and I believe that as long as you have the willingness to learn, it will be beneficial. Personally, the modules that were helpful for me were definitely programming, agile development, and software quality and process management. During your student life, you have participated actively in student clubs and activities. What are your greatest memories and takeaways? All the events that I had participated in were memorable. However, the most significant memory would be when I volunteered in the Journey to The East event (JTTE), where I met many friends in Indonesia. For those who don't know, JTTE is an annual event where a team of 5-7 people is given a mission to complete within a set period while exploring Singapore. The concept is always exciting and different every year. It was indeed memorable. My role as a committee was to welcome these players who successfully found the booth located in different places and play the games with them. These players who completed the mission fastest were rewarded a prize. This was the last and most prominent event that I participated in before I graduated from PSB Academy. What advice would you share with our fresh graduates looking to embark on a similar career? Never take your education for granted. Arming yourself with solid fundamentals will be advantageous to your future career. Even if it is difficult initially, never give up. Keep on learning and exploring. Eventually, you will reach there. But most importantly is to enjoy doing what you love.
