My passion for healthcare started during my time in the Pharmaceutical Science Diploma at Temasek Polytechnic, where I gained a deeper understanding of the important role healthcare professionals play in improving patients' lives. I became particularly fascinated by medical imaging, and the role radiographers play in supporting diagnosis and treatment through the use of advanced technology. Pursuing a Diagnostic Radiography Degree at PSB Academy felt like a natural progression towards a career that integrates science, technology, and patient-centred care. 

As a Year 2 student from the pioneer cohort of the programme, my journey has been both challenging and rewarding. From stepping into an X-ray room for the first time to gaining exposure through clinical placements, every experience has helped me build confidence and develop new skills. While adapting to unfamiliar environments was initially daunting, these experiences have encouraged me to reflect, learn, and grow both personally and professionally. 

One of the most impactful parts of the programme has been the Introduction to Diagnostic Imaging module, which provides opportunities for clinical placements in hospitals and polyclinics. Through these placements, I have been able to apply classroom learning in real healthcare settings, working alongside healthcare professionals and gaining a deeper understanding of patient care and imaging practice. These experiences have helped strengthen my technical skills while building the confidence needed to progress towards becoming a future radiographer. 

The programme has also reinforced my career aspirations by equipping me with the knowledge, practical skills, and clinical exposure needed to work towards becoming a qualified radiographer. Each module builds on the foundations required for professional practice and provides meaningful insights into the realities of the healthcare sector. 

For students considering this programme, my advice is to stay curious, remain resilient, and embrace every learning opportunity. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek support when needed. Most importantly, take time to reflect on your experiences, as some of the most valuable lessons often come from the challenges you encounter along the way.
