What are the key takeaways from the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management course that helped you in your venture?

The key takeaways that helped me in my entrepreneur journey were the Marketing and Foodservice Operations and Management modules. I learnt the basic concept of foodservice operations and management, which aided me a lot in my bakery business. On top of that the marketing module introduced me to ways I can bring my bakes to a larger audience on the internet.

What are the main key factors that drive you to be an entrepreneur?

The sense of enjoyment I get when I bake.

How has your entrepreneur journey been so far?

My entrepreneurial journey started during Circuit Breaker. I had a lot of free time at home, and one day I decided to bake some Brownies for my family. My sister suggested that I sell them. From cookies and cakes to pastries, there are many things that I can choose to bake. But I wanted my bakery to be something close to my heart. Growing up, my mom and sister would often make Brownies and Shepherd’s Pie. It became my comfort food, and I wanted my bakery to offer comfort food. Just like any other home-based bakery business, not only do I have to bake, but I’ll also need to market my bakes to a broader audience. Instagram has always been the go-to for many home-based businesses as it is easy to use and cost-effective. Hence, I believe that it will be a good platform to reach my target audience.

What was your best moment at PSB Academy? Is there anyone in PSB Academy you want to say special thanks to?

My classmates were the highlight. We had so much fun while learning from one another. I would like to especially thank my classmates from the Class of April 2019 batch.

During the pandemic, what were the challenges that you faced and how did you overcome it?

Like many others who were affected, I, too, had a pay cut from my full-time job. But with the help of my home-based bakery business, I managed to earn extra income.

When my customers compliment me and tell me how much they enjoyed my bakes.
