Student Stories

I currently work in the healthcare sector, supporting operations across a network of clinics. Driven by my ambition to progress within the healthcare sector, I decided to pursue an MBA to strengthen my strategic management skills and prepare myself for a future Administrative Manager role. I hope to eventually oversee operations across multiple branches within my organisation, while also finding ways to bring my interest in fitness into healthcare through initiatives that promote holistic wellness. The online MBA at PSB Academy appealed to me because it allowed me to continue working while developing the knowledge and skills needed for my career goals. 

The learning experience has been positive and supportive. The lecturers are patient and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we understand the subject matter. I am especially grateful to Dr Gomathy for her guidance and support throughout the programme. Our class group chat has also been useful for keeping everyone updated and making sure we do not miss important information. 

A big part of my learning involved analysing organisations of our choice. I consistently chose my current employer for these assignments, which gave me the opportunity to look more closely at our internal operations and understand the organisation from a different perspective. Being able to connect what I learnt with my actual workplace made the assignments much more meaningful and has helped me perform my role more effectively. 

Balancing my career with studies was not easy, so managing my time became very important. I created a structured routine using calendars and schedules and set my own deadlines two to three days before the actual submission dates. This gave me some buffer time and helped me avoid last-minute pressure. I also made it a point never to miss an online class. Paying attention during lessons and asking questions when I was unsure helped me understand the concepts better and made the independent study much more manageable. There were times when I had to spend less time socialising with friends, but those short-term sacrifices helped me stay focused on completing the programme. 

I believe the MBA will support my long-term career development. Applying my assignments to my current organisation has given me a deeper understanding of its operational challenges and complexities. I have also developed stronger Excel modelling skills, which I can now use to handle my work more efficiently and effectively. 

My advice is simple: take the leap and get started. Balancing work and studies require discipline, planning and commitment, but having a clear goal makes the journey worthwhile. The lecturers at PSB Academy are supportive and genuinely want to see students succeed, so make the most of the guidance available and stay engaged throughout the programme.
