Building My Career Through Continuous Learning

I am currently working as an Account Assistant at an interior design company, where I help maintain accurate financial records, process payments and manage claims. Working in this industry requires attention to detail, strong accounting knowledge and the ability to coordinate with different stakeholders, including project teams, suppliers and clients.

I have always believed in challenging myself and continuously improving my skills. In today's competitive job market, having relevant qualifications and professional knowledge is important for staying ahead and creating better career opportunities. This motivated me to pursue a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance with Coventry University (CU) at PSB Academy.

Strengthening My Knowledge and Skills

What I appreciated about studying at CU was the opportunity to develop a solid foundation in accounting, finance and business management. The knowledge I gained from my modules has been useful in my current role, particularly when handling invoices, performing reconciliations and supporting financial reporting. Beyond technical knowledge, the programme also helped me strengthen my analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. These capabilities have made me more confident in handling workplace challenges and adapting to different responsibilities.

I also appreciated the accessible campus and the professionalism of the lecturers. They were approachable and always willing to support students whenever we encountered difficulties. One lecturer who made a particularly positive impression on me was Mr. Alex Soon. I am grateful for the time he took to guide me through challenging exam questions and patiently explain concepts whenever I needed help.

Staying Competitive in a Changing Job Market

I recognise that career progression can be competitive, and graduates from more established universities may sometimes have an advantage when seeking employment opportunities. Rather than allowing this to discourage me, I see it as motivation to work harder, continuously upgrade my knowledge and pursue relevant professional certifications. I believe that building a successful career requires more than just obtaining a qualification. It takes initiative, continuous learning and the willingness to keep improving.

My learning experience with Coventry University at PSB Academy has strengthened my accounting and finance knowledge, enhanced my workplace skills and given me a stronger foundation to pursue my future career aspirations.
