Adrian Apthorp

Vice President, Business Architecture and Portfolio Management

EUR ING Adrian Apthorp BSc CEng FIET is a business architect and currently Vice President, Business Architecture and Portfolio Management’ at DHL Express’ global head office in Singapore. He has global responsibility for defining and leading the development of DHL Express’ end-to-end business processes across functions.

Adrian is an experienced senior manager and enterprise architect, with over 35 years of experience in a business and information systems environment, especially in the area of international express transportation. He works at a global level applying information systems (digitalization) across business process engineering initiatives to enable business change.

Many of the approaches and technologies he has used have subsequently become more widely applied in industry, some resulting in patents. Adrian is a recognised thought leader and practitioner in his field, contributing to conferences and publications on business process management, service-oriented and enterprise architecture, as well as being the subject of articles himself.

Whilst studying at Brunel University, he worked for Marconi Radar Systems. He then went on to work for Digitus, a systems development company, before joining DHL. He has lived and worked in London, Singapore, Brussels, Prague and Bonn.
