My journey in cybersecurity began at PSB Academy with Coventry University. After completing a Diploma in InfoComm Technology, I explored several bachelor’s options and found cybersecurity both exciting and aligned with my strengths. Choosing PSB Academy was an easy decision—the campus location in the heart of Singapore was convenient, the courses were comprehensive, and the curriculum was structured to stay in line with current industry trends.

I completed my BSc Cybersecurity with Honours in 2024 and continued with an MSc in 2025. The modules, ranging from Network Security and Ethical Hacking to Incident Detection & Response, gave me both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience. Most assignments were research-driven, which trained me to analyse information critically, present findings clearly, and apply cybersecurity principles effectively.

The guidance from my lecturers, especially Mr Goh Kian Thong, and my Final Year Project supervisor Dr Matthew Teow, was invaluable. One memorable lesson was when a lecturer explained the difference between “Data Exfiltration” and a “Cyber Attack” with real-world examples—it made the concepts practical and memorable.

Thanks to the research-focused curriculum and practical modules, I felt well-prepared to step into the cybersecurity industry. The education I received gave me the skills, confidence, and edge to navigate real-world challenges, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional application.
