Before joining PSB Academy for my MBA in Global Business, I had a Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering and later became a Certified Trade Finance Professional. After more than 20 years in the industry, I felt there were areas I wanted to strengthen, particularly in leadership, entrepreneurship, and management, so I decided to pursue a postgraduate degree.
I first heard about PSB Academy through my brother-in-law, who graduated in 2022. Attending his graduation at Coventry University gave my spouse and me a strong impression of the university environment. CU’s programme stood out because it offered part-time study without examinations, which suited both our schedules and interests.
The curriculum has been both challenging and rewarding. Some modules required me to start from scratch, which pushed me to read more and expand my knowledge. I particularly appreciated the diversity of the cohort—group work and discussions gave me insights from different perspectives, and the lecturers’ use of real-world examples made the lessons highly relevant to my daily work.
The course has helped me think more strategically about leadership and entrepreneurship. Modules on leadership encouraged me to reflect on the type of leader I want to be, while entrepreneurship strengthened my ability to assess business opportunities, risks, and strategies for new business units.
I am grateful to the lecturers who inspired me along the way—Mr Alex Soon, Dr Joyce Lim, Dr Chiang, Mr Edward Cheong, and Dr John Heng. From guidance on managerial finance and APA 7 formatting to practical advice on project management and balancing part-time study with work, their mentorship has been invaluable. Studying at PSB Academy has met all my objectives and strengthened my confidence. It has equipped me with tools and perspectives that I can apply immediately in my role as a Senior Trade Finance Specialist at Lenovo Singapore, while opening new options and opportunities for my career progression.
