What is your highest educational qualification and what were you doing before joining PSB Academy?

I completed a certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Polytechnic Ungku Omar in 2006. While studying part-time at PSB Academy, I continued working as a Senior Technician at Alcon Manufacturing and Logistics.

How did you hear about PSB Academy, and why did you choose to study here?

A colleague at Alcon Manufacturing and Logistics who is also studying part-time at PSB Academy, introduced me to this course. I saw it as a great opportunity to further my studies!

What are your career goals for the future and why did you decide to take the course you’re studying now?

I aim to advance to a higher technical or managerial role within the manufacturing industry. Enhancing my expertise and contributing to more efficient production processes. I decided to take this course because it aligns with my goals offering the knowledge and skills needed for career growth. It also provides practical industry-relevant content that will help me excel in my current role and prepare me for future opportunities.

What are some skills you’ve picked up from your course that you think will be useful in real life or your future job?

Through this Mechanical Engineering course, I’ve gained technical skills in understanding mechanical systems, problem-solving complex issues, creating detailed engineering drawings, and collaborating effectively in teams. These skills will be vital in my mechanical engineering career.

Do you think studying at a private institution like PSB Academy has given you an edge or put you at a disadvantage? Can you share any experiences that made you feel that way?

I believe studying at a private institution like PSB Academy has given me an edge. Smaller classes meant I got more personal attention from lecturers, enhancing my learning experience. The strong industry connections provided valuable networking opportunities and exposure to real-world applications of our studies. The flexible course schedule has helped me balance work and studies effectively. A memorable experience was working on hands-on projects that mirrored industry practices, which gave me practical skills and confidence to excel.

Were there any lecturers at PSB Academy who inspired you? If so, who and why?

Yes, several lecturers at PSB Academy have inspired me. Mr. Gary Teh Wei Hock made complex math concepts easy to understand and sparked my interest in the subject with his engaging teaching style. Mr. Rama, who taught Engineering Design and Programming, inspired me with his deep knowledge and practical approach, making the material relevant and applicable to real-world scenarios. Both lecturers played a significant role in enhancing my educational experience and motivated me to excel in my studies.

What’s the most unforgettable moment you’ve had at PSB Academy?

My most unforgettable moment at PSB Academy was a group project where we built a forecast sensor using Arduino Uno. My peers and I designed and programmed a functional device to predict weather patterns. It was challenging but extremely rewarding and fulfilling when we successfully completed the project. The experience not only deepened my understanding of electronics and programming but also taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, problem-solving, and project management.

What advice would you give to students who are about to graduate from secondary school and are considering their future career paths?

Explore your interests and strengths! Find out what you enjoy and how it could translate into a career. Don’t be afraid to seek guidance from mentors and professionals, they can offer invaluable insights and advice. In addition, gain practical experience through internships or part-time jobs. Most importantly, stay open-minded and flexible, it’s perfectly fine to change your path as you learn more about your passions and goals. Embrace the journey and remember that each step you take brings you closer to finding your true calling.
