Mohan Monisha
After completing my Certificate in Business Management in 2019, I entered the workforce and spent the next few years working in administration and customer service. Those years helped me realise what I wanted from the next stage of my career.
Working helped me build practical skills and gave me a clearer picture of where I wanted my career to go. I realised I wanted to move beyond administrative work and eventually take on managerial responsibilities. That was what brought me back to PSB Academy in 2025 to pursue a business diploma.
Throughout the diploma, one of the biggest things I learnt was that business management isn't just about managing people. Through the different modules and group assignments, I saw how areas like marketing, finance, operations and human resource management work together. My previous work experience also made it easier to relate many of the concepts to situations I had encountered at work.
The diploma helped me understand the reasons behind business decisions instead of simply following processes.
Lecturers often reinforced these concepts with real business examples, and Mr Christopher Chiew was one lecturer who really stood out. His examples made the lessons engaging and easier to understand.
When I graduated, one of the proudest moments was knowing that I had made the Dean's List. It reminded me that spending a few years working before returning to school had not put me behind. If anything, it gave me a clearer purpose and helped me appreciate what I was learning even more.
After completing my diploma, I returned to working full time. At the same time, I decided to continue my studies through University of Hertfordshire's Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Business Administration (Top-Up) (E-Learning) and expect to complete it by the end of 2026. E-learning gives me the flexibility to continue building my career while achieving my degree.
If there's one thing I've learnt from my journey, it's not to be afraid to challenge yourself and keep learning. Choose a course that matches your interests and goals, stay consistent, and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it.
