How has life been since you started school?
Life since starting school has been really fun, even though it’s not always easy. I came in with no prior experience, so there were definitely challenges, but it’s been exciting learning something new along the way. One of the best parts has been meeting friends from different nationalities and backgrounds as it really broadened my perspective. Overall, it’s been a fun and meaningful experience that’s helped me grow both personally and academically.
What made you further your studies with PSB Academy?
I chose PSB Academy because I wanted a more hands-on learning experience rather than just memorising theories. During the initial consultation with Mr Alex, he highlighted that the programme focuses mostly on hands-on coursework. I believe this approach is more engaging and build practical skills that I can apply in real-world situations.
What made you embark on your course / discipline? How will this programme help you to achieve your dreams?
I chose this course because I want to build stronger business skills as a freelance graphic designer. While I’m confident in my creative abilities, I know I need a better understanding of things like marketing and how to work with clients to grow sustainably. This programme will help me connect the creative and business side of design, so I can build a solid career and eventually grow my own brand.
In what ways has your education at PSB Academy contributed to your personal and professional growth? Are there any specific technical skills, concepts, or class projects that stood out to you or helped you feel more prepared for your future career?
Coming from a creative background, my education at PSB Academy has taught me how to think more strategically and approach problems from a business perspective. One of the most impactful experiences was from my Entrepreneurship class, where we were encouraged to come up with new business ideas and develop them further. This process taught me how to identify opportunities, think creatively yet realistically, and consider factors like value proposition and feasibility. It also helped me step out of my comfort zone and present my ideas with more confidence.
How approachable and helpful were the lecturers/tutors? Was there anyone who motivated you through the challenges of completing your course?
The lecturers were very approachable and always willing to help whenever I had doubts, whether it was about assignments or understanding certain concepts. Mr Alex, in particular, was very encouraging and impactful. He has a way of explaining business concepts in a simple and easy manner, which really helped someone like me with no prior business background to keep up and gain confidence in the subject.
What was most memorable about your time at PSB Academy?
My most memorable time in PSB was the singing performances held in the evening from time to time. I was so surprised but it was a really pleasant one because it felt like healing after the long class hours. It was also a good way to be able to get know students from the other cohorts and enjoy good music together.
What advice would you give to other students planning to study here?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions or get help from fellow classmates or your lecturers, it could expand your views and you realize that everyone is actually so down to help.
