EduTrust Certification

The Committee for Private Education (CPE) was appointed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Board in October 2016 to carry out its functions and powers relating to private education under the Private Education Act. The CPE is supported by a team of dedicated staff from SSG to regulate the sector, provide student services, consumer education and facilitate capability development efforts to uplift standards in the local private education industry.

The Enhanced Registration Framework sets the minimum standards that all Private Education Institutions (PEIs) must meet through the mandatory registration requirements.

The EduTrust Certification Scheme is a quality assurance scheme administered by CPE for PEIs in Singapore. It aims to distinguish private schools that are able to consistently maintain a high standard of quality in the overall provision of education services and make continual improvements that lead to positive student outcomes.

PSB Academy is among the first few PEIs to be awarded the EduTrust Certification on 20th May 2010 and has successfully renewed for two consecutive 4-year terms till 13th May 2022.

Fee Protection Scheme

Under the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS), PSB Academy ensures that fees paid by students to the Academy are insured by a CPE-appointed service provider. This arrangement serves to protect the students’ fees in the event a PEI is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. Furthermore, the FPS protects the student if the PEI fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgments made against it by the Singapore courts.

The FPS is required for all local and international students taking courses in EduTrust-certified PEIs, and applies to all courses of more than one month or 50 hours. FPS insurance premiums are paid by PSB Academy, unless otherwise stated in the Student Contract as payable separately by the student.

FPS Process

  • Students will pay FPS fees as stated in and upon signing their student contract
  • PSB Academy will purchase insurance within 7 working days from the payment of FPS fees
  • Students will receive the insurance certificate via email from the insurance provider
  • Insured period will commence from the date that the 1st instalment of course fees were paid, and covers the entire duration of the programme as stated in the student contract
  • Students seeking deferment or re-enrolment resulting in extension of the programme duration will have to pay an additional premium for the extended period’s course fees
