How did you hear about PSB Academy, and why did you choose to study here?

After completing my N-Levels, I came across PSB Academy while searching for schools that offered sports-related diplomas. What stood out to me was the practical, hands-on learning environment, and the student testimonials gave me a clearer picture of what studying here would be like.

My secondary school offered O-Level Mathematics, which allowed me to meet the entry requirements to enrol in the Certificate in Sport and Exercise Sciences. From there, I progressed to the Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences, completing my studies in less than 2 years.

What are your career goals for the future and why did you decide to take the course you're studying now/you've graduated from?

I’m interested in becoming either a physiotherapist or a personal trainer. When I looked into career opportunities in the sports and fitness sector, this diploma stood out because it builds a strong foundation in understanding the human body, movement and exercise programmes. It felt like the right starting point to move toward those roles.

What are some skills you've picked up from your course that you think will be useful in real life or your current/future job?

Teamwork has been a huge part of my experience. Through different group projects, I learned how to work with people who each bring something different to the table, and how to contribute in a way that supports the whole team.

I also started seeing how theory plays out in real life. Anatomy and biomechanics weren’t just textbook topics anymore; they helped me understand why certain exercises feel better, work better, or are safer, and how to adjust them for someone’s specific needs.

Communication has become an important skill for me too. I’ve learned how to explain concepts in a simple, relatable way to people who may not have a sports science background, which matters a lot when you’re helping clients or patients.

And throughout the course, I found myself thinking more critically and relying on evidence instead of trends or assumptions. I know that mindset will really help me in the sports and fitness field.

Do you think studying at a private institution like PSB Academy has given you an advantage?

I feel it has given me an advantage. The faster pathway meant I could complete my diploma sooner and explore career or progression opportunities earlier. It gave me a head start while still building the knowledge and skills I needed.

What’s the most memorable moment you’ve had at PSB Academy?

The practical lessons where we take on the role of a personal trainer and guide our classmates through workouts. It’s when everything we learn in class started to feel real and applicable.

What advice would you give to students who are about to graduate from secondary school and are considering their future career paths?

Don’t worry about what others might think. Follow the path you’re genuinely interested in. Once you start studying something you truly enjoy, everything else will begin to fall into place.
