What made you choose to pursue a double major in Business with La Trobe University?

While working, I sought a flexible degree that would deepen my understanding of international business and its response to today’s global economy and knowledge, as well as provide knowledge I could immediately apply in real-world situations.

I was also looking for a curriculum that highlights the role of business leaders in driving organisational growth, innovation, and societal impact. La Trobe University’s strong accreditation and global recognition gave me that confidence that I was pursuing a qualification that is both reputable and industry-relevant.

Being the first batch of graduates from La Trobe University’s Business Degree, how was your learning experience so far?

It has been an insightful and engaging journey. The lecturers' delivery methods are not only clear and structured, but they often draw from personal industry experiences which brings the concepts to life. As someone who studies in the evenings while managing daytime commitments, I appreciate how they make sessions interactive and encourage open discussion and reflection.

Was there a particular moment or experience that sparked your interest in business, or perhaps any dreams of starting your own business?

When I was a kid, I used to help out at my grandparents’ shop during the school holidays. Watching how they ran the business with integrity and fostered strong relationships with the community deeply influenced me—it inspired me to uphold those same values in my future interactions and work.

Do you feel more prepared for the industry or future studies after graduation?

Yes, I feel more confident in taking on additional responsibilities at work and I am also inspired to pursue further studies. This degree has equipped with hard skills such as data analysis, strategic thinking and international business frameworks. It has also helped me approach challenges from a global perspective.

Looking back, what are the most valuable parts of your education? Which modules do you enjoy the most or find most beneficial?

The most valuable part of my education was learning to apply theories and frameworks to real business issues. From business strategy to international operations, each subject is designed to help us think critically and challenge the way we understand about global commerce. The case studies were particularly beneficial in illustrating how leaders in multinational companies operate and continuously drive innovation. Some examples of modules that I gained the most from are Strategic Management, International Business, and Entrepreneurship, which have been especially impactful.

What is the biggest challenge you have overcome during your studies? What keeps you motivated as such?

Balancing work and studies has been one of the biggest challenges, especially in an accelerated programme. However, the belief that I am building my future—and the support of fellow working professionals in the course—keeps me motivated. Although I am a part-time student, I have always felt a strong sense of connection to the academic community and this connection provides me with the extra motivation I need to keep pushing forward, regardless of how tired I feel after a long day.

What advice would you give to someone considering the Bachelor of Business from La Trobe University?

This degree is ideal for aspiring business professionals and future decision-makers. It offers more than just academic knowledge. It cultivates critical thinking, adaptability and a global outlook. For anyone who is curious about the business world and wants to make an impact, this programme is a strong foundation.
