Programme Overview

In the Bachelor of Cyber Security degree, students will investigate, critically evaluate and apply current and emerging cybersecurity practices, regulations and standards. Students will develop programming competencies using Python and other software tools to apply algorithmic approaches to address cybersecurity challenges. The module also examines computer network architecture, security protocols, and the governance frameworks required to manage cyber risks and safeguard organisational information assets.

Introduction

In the Bachelor of Cyber Security degree, students will learn the basic fundamentals and best practices of cybersecurity. They will critically evaluate and apply current and emerging cybersecurity practices, regulations and standards to safeguard data, systems and network. Additionally, they will learn the frameworks of cybersecurity governance and risk management strategies to address real work problems in cybersecurity. 

Course Highlights

  • Advanced Standing

    Stand to receive 8 - 12 module exemptions and possible completion in 16 months with a relevant polytechnic diploma qualification. 

  • Hands-On Training with Professional Cybersecurity Tools

    Gain hands-on experience with professional cybersecurity tools such as Kali Linux, Wireshark, Metasploit, Nmap, Burp Suite, Python and Oracle VM VirtualBox for security testing, analysis and automation.

  • Gain further Cyber Security and Governance skills

    Gain expertise in technical defence and secure systems, with applications in Governance, Risk and Organisational Intelligence.

Graduation Requirements

Upon successful completion of all required modules, students will be awarded the Bachelor of Cybersecurity from La Trobe University. The degree awarded will be the same as that to the on-campus graduates.
