Bachelor of Biomedical Science,
La Trobe University
I chose to pursue my studies in life science at PSB Academy due to its strong industry connections, modern facilities and laboratories, and comprehensive life science curriculum. The hands-on learning approach of PSB Academy’s life science diploma provided me with a robust foundation in biomedical science. The well-structured curriculum efficiently prepared me for advanced studies, perfectly balancing academic knowledge and practical skills.
Transitioning to La Trobe University’s degree programme, I was impressed by the depth and breadth of the curriculum. It delved into specialised areas of biomedical science, enriching my understanding and expertise. The inclusion of contemporary research developments in the field kept the coursework engaging and relevant to current industry trends.
During my studies, I acquired a diverse skill set crucial for a career in the life science field. Among them was the ability to perform laboratory procedures such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis, cell culture, and microscopy. Additionally, I honed my skills in data analysis using statistical tools to gather, examine, and evaluate scientific data. The emphasis on critical thinking greatly enhanced my ability to analyse scientific literature and experimental data critically. I refined my communication skills by crafting in-depth papers and presenting complex scientific concepts. Engaging in group projects and lab work underscored the importance of teamwork, preparing me for collaborative efforts in diverse research settings.
These skills not only strengthened my capabilities for laboratory and research work but will also position me for a range of roles within the biomedical science industry.
While stigmas surround private education institutions, my experience at PSB Academy contradicts these notions. PSB Academy maintains high academic standards and delivers quality education comparable to public universities. The emphasis on practical skills and industry relevance significantly enhances graduates’ employability. In my view, the value of education is determined by the quality of learning and the opportunities for personal and professional development, rather than the type of institution.
