Tell us about your current role as a Group HR and Training at Future Fields. What does a typical day look like, and what do you enjoy most about your work?

As Group HR and Training at Future Fields Group Singapore, I lead and manage HR operations across all business units, including training, payroll management, compliance, policy development, and procedures as well as employee experience and culture. My role also involves driving strategic HR initiatives that align with the company’s growth and culture.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is collaborating directly with the CEO and senior leadership team. This exposure has strengthened my financial and business acumen, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to broader organisational decisions. I enjoy the balance of operational leadership and strategic influence, where I can shape both the employee experience and the company’s direction. It’s a dynamic role that challenges me to think critically, lead effectively, and grow continuously.

What inspired you to pursue a career in Human Resources and Learning & Development?

My passion for Human Resources and Learning & Development stems from a deep desire to support people not just as employees, but as individuals with unique aspirations. I’ve always believed that the workplace should be a space where people feel valued, heard, and empowered to grow. HR allows me to be that bridge, connecting business goals with human potential. I find joy in crafting development programmes that unlock hidden talents and help teams thrive together. It’s fulfilling to know that my work contributes to both personal and organisational success. This profession gives me the opportunity to make a real impact, one person at a time.

We understand you secured your job through networking. Could you share how that opportunity came about and what students can learn from your experience?

Networking played a pivotal role in my career journey. By staying connected with professionals I met during my studies and internships, I was able to build meaningful relationships that eventually opened doors.

One of my former colleagues recommended me for the role at Future Fields, and because I had consistently demonstrated my value and maintained good rapport, the opportunity came naturally.

For students, the key takeaway is to nurture your network genuinely. Be helpful, stay in touch, and let your work speak for itself. Opportunities often come from people who’ve seen your potential firsthand. Your network is not just a contact list; it’s a community that can support your growth.

How did the Career Services team support you during your studies, and in what ways did it contribute to your career journey?

The Career Services team at PSB Academy was instrumental in shaping my professional journey. I attended personality profiling workshops and industry guest talks that helped me understand current trends and expectations in the Singapore’s job market. These sessions gave me clarity on my strengths and how to align them with career opportunities. The exposure to real-world scenarios and expert advice boosted my confidence and career readiness.

As an experienced HR professional, what advice would you give to students who are preparing to step into the working world and What are some important skillsets that they should develop to thrive in today’s job market?

My advice to students is to stay curious and adaptable. The workplace is evolving rapidly, so keeping up with industry trends, technologies, and frameworks is essential. Beyond technical skills, focus on building emotional intelligence, communication, and collaboration—these are the traits that make you stand out. Don’t just work hard; work smart by making your contributions visible and impactful. Leadership today is about lifting others, so help your peers and younger professionals grow too. Success is not just individual excellence but thriving as a team.

What is one unforgettable memory or highlight from your time at PSB Academy that still stays with you today?

One of the most unforgettable experiences at PSB Academy was engaging in classroom debates with peers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. These discussions challenged my thinking and broadened my perspective on global business practices. I loved how each group brought unique insights from their industries, making every session rich and thought-provoking. It was a melting pot of ideas, and I learned as much from my classmates as I did from the curriculum. The diversity and collaboration truly prepared me for Singapore’s multicultural workplace. It’s a memory I cherish and often reflect on.
