Selecting The Right Discipline

- English

Do you have a good grasp of the English language, find pleasure in creating stories or enjoy relaying the news? Or are you able to quickly comprehend what you read and write succinctly and compellingly? Consider a media and communications  or marketing course.

Suited for skilled communicators who thrive on multitasking and are adaptable to various conditions, the Media and communications is a broad field that encompasses many different disciplines like journalism, advertising, public relations, radio, television, and film. Each of these disciplines requires students to master certain skill sets and knowledge bases, such as writing, research, editing, and design.

- Math

If you have a highly analytical mind and have an aptitude for figuring out how things like machinery or electronic equipment work, you can consider exploring the field of engineering, or analytics.

Math is the basis of all engineering. Not only do engineers use it to calculate dimensions and limits, but it also plays a pivotal part in exploring variations and proving concepts. Engineering is a broad field where you can further explore your interest in the area of chemical, civil, electrical engineering, and others.

On the other hand, if you like telling stories with numbers, you may also consider exploring analytics where you can possibly work as a data scientist, business analyst, statistician and market research analyst. These fields are highly technical, requiring a high level of skill and knowledge. Moreover, these skills are transferable to many industries, allowing graduates to pursue jobs outside of the tech world.

- Science

Always been an inquisitive discoverer, trying to figure out how the world works? Curious about biodiversity and ecosystems or what goes on inside the cells of the human body? If you enjoy studying biology, chemistry or physics, consider pursuing a further education in science. A life sciences course allows you to experiment, test theories and explore the world around you. You can work in a range of different industries, including healthcare, public policy, biological research, biotechnology, and science journalism.

- Physical Education (PE)

Do you enjoy physical activity? Or have a keen interest in sports and fitness? If your favourite subject is physical education, consider a sports science course. Sports science is the study of human physical activity and performance. A sports scientist works in different areas such as biomechanics, physiology, nutrition, psychology, and sport injury prevention. Many sports scientists work with athletes, coaches, trainers, and other professionals in order to improve athletic performance. There are many career options available to sports and exercise science graduates. These include sports psychologists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports data analysts, and fitness trainers.

- Art

Enjoy drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, or other visual arts? If you are interested in visual arts and have strong visual perceptual skills, consider taking a graphic design course. Graphic design can open doors to several different pathways, including advertising, publishing, web design, motion graphics, illustration, and branding. So, if you love creating beautiful images, you may want to consider taking graphic design classes.

- Principles of Accounts (POA)

Are you detail-oriented and careful, and like having strict rules to operate within? Accounting might be the profession for you. It is a promising field to pursue If you enjoy numbers, money, and working with clients. Accountants are responsible for collecting data and preparing financial reports, which include income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and profit & loss statements. They also handle taxes and audits, and may specialise in certain areas like taxation or auditing.

- Design & Technology (D&T)

If you like assembling things and are always on the lookout for the latest gadget or software, a career in engineering might be a good fit for you.

It is an exciting field that combines technology, math, and art. Engineers design everything from bridges to buildings, computers to cars. There are many different kinds of engineers, such as civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, aerospace, biomedical, computer, software, and manufacturing. An engineering course prepares students for careers to work in a range of different sectors, including government, finance, sales, and management.
